1. What we collect

Account information (email, display name), workspace and project configuration, screenshots and comparison results you choose to store in the cloud, and usage data needed to enforce plan limits (capture counts, storage usage, monitor runs).

2. What we do not collect

Screenshots captured in Free Local mode through the browser extension are never uploaded to our servers and are not collected by us. We do not collect your general browsing history or the contents of any page you have not explicitly submitted for capture.

3. Browser extension permissions

The VisualRunner extension only acts on pages you explicitly capture, and every permission below exists to run that capture locally on your device: activeTab and scripting inject the capture bridge into the page you are capturing; tabs opens and switches between the tabs a capture job needs; storage keeps your sign-in session and capture preferences (selected project, environments, languages, viewports) on your device only; downloads saves Free Local mode ZIP exports to disk when you click Download; debugger uses the Chrome DevTools Protocol solely to render full-page and custom-viewport screenshots of the page being captured, and is never used to inspect network traffic or monitor unrelated browsing; cookies sets only the locale/session cookie values you configure in a language or cookie profile on the page being captured, and is never used to read or export your existing cookies; notifications and alarms periodically check your cloud projects for finished monitor runs and show a local desktop notification. Every capture runs in a separate, hidden background tab and walks the page and language variants in your capture job automatically, without a click on each one, which activeTab alone cannot authorize; this needs host access, but the extension only ever requests it, one time per website, right before your first capture on that site (not at install), and only for the specific site your capture job targets. Declining still lets you use every other part of the extension. The extension does not execute any remotely hosted code and does not sell or use your data for advertising. Organizations that deploy VisualRunner Enterprise — a separately distributed build for managed environments — receive a further reduced extension: it requests no host access at all, and the debugger, cookies, tabs and downloads permissions are not included, because every screenshot in that edition is rendered on VisualRunner infrastructure rather than in your browser. IT administrators can additionally lock that build to a single workspace through a managed-storage policy, and it is installed only through your own enterprise device-management system.

4. How we use data

To provide the Service (capture, comparison, storage, monitoring, notifications), to enforce plan entitlements and prevent abuse, to process payments through Stripe, and to communicate service-related and billing-related emails.

5. Sharing

We share data with subprocessors strictly necessary to run the Service: our cloud hosting and object storage provider, our payment processor (Stripe), and our transactional email provider. We do not sell personal data.

6. Data retention

Cloud screenshots and capture history are retained according to your plan's retention period. You can delete a workspace and its data at any time from workspace settings.

7. Security

All communication between the extension, the web app, and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS. Sensitive credentials are encrypted at rest using application-level encryption, and we do not log cookie values, authentication tokens, or screenshot contents.

8. Support access

Our support staff cannot access your workspace by default. Access requires an explicit, time-boxed grant tied to a recorded reason, is read-only, and every grant is logged in an internal audit trail.

9. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Contact support@visualrunner.com to exercise these rights.

10. Cookies

See our Cookie Policy for details on the limited, privacy-conscious analytics we use on this website. This is separate from the browser extension's cookies permission described in section 3, which only sets cookies on pages you capture.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice before they take effect.
